The Story

A big evening for Ludhiana's architecture community

On 23 September 2026, the Indian Institute of Architects (IIA), Ludhiana Centre held its first General Body Meeting (GBM) of the new term, together with the oath-taking ceremony of its newly elected team for 2026–2028. The evening at Park Plaza, Ludhiana, brought more than 100 architects, members and guests under one roof.

It was the formal start of a new chapter of leadership for the centre — and a chance for members to sit together, talk through the issues architects face today, and set priorities for the years ahead.

On the Agenda

What the first meeting was about

The first GBM wasn't just ceremony. The discussion centred on how the centre can do more for the people in it:

  • Strengthening professional activities and getting more members involved.
  • Encouraging knowledge-sharing and giving practising architects more chances to learn, connect and collaborate.
  • A Technical Talks session by Shree Cement on modern construction materials and building technologies.
  • A panel discussion on architectural design, materials, collaboration and the need for safe, sustainable buildings — with Ar. Harpreet, Ar. Rupleen, Ar. Nimrat and Ar. Rutuja, moderated by Ar. Hridey.

Chairperson Ar. Balbir Kumar Bagga said the new team will focus on strengthening the professional community and creating more opportunities for practising architects to learn and work together. In the coming term, the team plans to organise professional programmes, technical sessions, industry interactions and awareness activities — and to work with all relevant departments and institutions towards a better built environment for society.

Among those present: Ar. Navdeep Kumar, Ar. Jagdev Singh, Ar. Harpreet Singh, Ar. Lokesh Gupta, Ar. Rajneesh Walia, Ar. Arjun Deep Sharma and Ar. Harpreet Kaur Dhillon, along with many other members and professionals from the architecture field.
